Lead Instructor Professional Biography

Eric Rivera is an Advanced P.O.S.T. (Peace Office Standards and Training) Certified Firearms Instructor in the State of California. Rivera is a Police Officer for a city on the West end of San Bernardino County.  Rivera received the prestigious "Top Marksmen" award for his Police Academy class at the 167th San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Academy Class scoring a perfect 100%. The scoring for the award was based off thousands of rounds having been shot over an approximate 12 week period using a handgun, rifle, and shotgun, while timed, under stress and fatigued from various positions.  

Rivera has been a police officer for five years and for the past three years he has served within his department as a firearms safety instructor teaching fellow police officers how properly shoot their duty weapons.  Rivera leads the range course of fire at his department on a monthly basis.  Rivera also received the prestigious officer of the year award in 2009 at the department where he works.  The award was given to him based on his actions as a peace officer during 2009.  Rivera is also a reserve field training officer and weaponless defensive tactics instructor at the police department where he is employed.  Lastly, Rivera was nominated and elected by his peers in 2010, then re-elected in 2012, to serve as the Vice-President of the Police Officer's Association.  

Rivera received a Bachelors of Science Degree in the field of Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Rivera also possess a Masters of Administrative Criminal Justice and Security Degree from the University of Phoenix, he earned his master's degree between 2008 and 2010 while working as a full-time police officer.  Rivera is not done with school and is planning on attending law school in the fall of 2013.  It is for these reasons Rivera is a qualified firearms instructor to the public.  Rivera has the level of credentials and professionalism demanded to properly and competently instruct others how to safely handle firearms.
